Kathryn is a firm believer that to progress in Bellydance you need to continually challenge yourself. Kathryn attends regular workshops in the UK and Cairo to develop her dance. Kathryn also enjoys working collaboratively Nadine, Emma and Chez Arabie.
I am an experienced teacher and performer of middle eastern dance. I run weekly Classes in Basingstoke for Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced students, organise workshops and provide private tuition.
I have always enjoyed dancing and from an ealry age have studied various dance disciplines including Ballet, Hip Hop, Salsa and Flamenco finally setting on Middle Eastern Dance, attending regular classess and workshops in the UK and Cairo with many famous national and international teachers and performers. Visits to Cairo and regular tuition from master teachers, choreographers and performers ensure I keep in touch with trends, and continue with my dance development.
In 2005 I participated in a joint venture with two other professional belly dancers and El Amiraat was born. Our joint venture of classes and performance brought Cairo to Reading with regular performances to live Arabic music at a local restaurant.
I appreciate that not everyone wants to perform professionally, but may still want to perform for family and friends for the sheer fun in doing so. In 2006 I began organising infromal 'Belly Dance Parties' where students where students could get a taste of performing in groups, gain experience of solo performance in a friendly environment.
In 2007 I organised a larger more public event, Oshaak El Neel, which took place in Reading Town Hall and included performances from Tribal Dancers, Bollywood dancers and a variety of modern and classical egyptian dance.
Since 2007 I have focused on my studies with Hossam and Serena Ramzy and Yasmina of Cairo. in addition to developing my teaching and performance skills to provide my students with a grounded learning experience and my audience with a performance which is both true to my heart and authentic in delivery.
In addition to teaching and performing, I am the current designer of MADN Mosaic magazine working with the editor Emma, pus I work closely with Anne from Planet Egypt.
Dance CPD /Private Tuition/Workshops I regularly attend workshops, master classes and private sessions with noted UK and international teachers, performers and master tutors of Middle Eastern Dance. These have included, Yasmina of Cairo, Kay Taylor, Josephine Wise, Charlotte Desorgher, Emma Pyke, Serena Ramzy, Sarah Farouk, Ava Fleming, Aziza of Portland, Yasmina Ramzy of Canada, Dina, Raqia Hassan, Aida Noor, Soroya, Khaled, Khazafy, Farida Fahmy and Eman Zaki.
